Cycling is not only environmentally friendly, but also great for both your physical and mental health. Our Cycling Proficiency workshop meets the Level 2 Bikeability national standards, so this will help employers to fulfill safety issues when offering a cycle to work scheme, while also increasing confidence and competence for cycling on the daily commute to work.

Who Should Attend
This workshop is perfect for anybody who can ride a bike and would like to start cycling on the road. Our fully qualified trainer can teach up to three delegates per day.
Use gears correctly
Carry out a simple bike check
Stop quickly and safely with control
Understand how and when to signal intentions to other road users
Understand the importance of where to ride on roads being used
Turn left and right into minor and major roads
Make decisions and understand safe riding strategy
How to navigate mini roundabouts
Going straight from a minor road to a minor road at a crossroads.
Understand safety equipment and clothing
Looking and being aware of things around you, including behind, without loss of control
Controlling the bike safely with one hand
Passing parked and slower moving vehicles
Passing side roads
Making U turns
Basic coverage of the highway code (road signs and markings)
Choosing and changing lanes

These follow up coaching sessions help support your colleagues to embed their learning during their skills transfer period. Applying new skills and changing behaviour takes effort and practice. After attending a training course many colleagues will find they need support through this transition. EQV can provide that support with follow up coaching sessions to help embed the learning.
Embedding coaching sessions can be delivered in 90 minute and half day durations. The facilitator will work with the group to capture feedback about challenges and how to overcome them ensuring success going forward.
Having a formal embedding coaching session will not only increase the success of the skills transfer period but helps create a platform of motivation, inclusivity and commitment within the group.
